Thursday, May 12
14h30 – 16h00
16h30 – 18h00
Attendees will work at creating an outline for the user experience designs of their transmedia productions or pervasive game platforms (Audience Engagement).
Instead of making up a persona for your design, we actually follow one potential user/audience member during a whole day (‘Touchpoint Analysis’) to get an understanding of:
- What media are they using (At what moments/times during the day? Time spent? Concurrent media usages)
- Can we find and describe some ’rituals’ in the media behaviour?
- What are the motivations for using media? (To stay updated/connected. Using repetitive actions {casual gaming} to ease tension/suppress impatience during waiting time f.i..
- What other non-media interactions (driving a vehicle, using a payment card) can be « tracked » and likewise contribute to the storyworld or game platform?
With these ‘touchpoint analyses’ we challenge attendees to find solutions for their transmedia designs that meet the real restrictions of the everyday lives of contemporary media consumers. In many cases when given this workshop, unforeseen and unexpected solutions come to life.
At the start of the workshop I assume attendees have a roughly worked out storyline/storyworld they want audiences to engage in (as a result of the work during the storytelling workshops on May 11th).
Deliverable: Within the given timeframe for this workshop attendees will be able to have created an outline for the user experience design of their transmedia project or pervasive game platform.
